home > You are in the eat sectionSince their opening in 1995 Loek and Paulina, originally from Holland, have grown into one of the most popular traditional Spanish tapas bars in Nerja. Their secret is the enticing combination of excellent wines by the glass served with traditional Spanish food prepared to order. The Spanish background music and a comfortable ambience all add up to their International bar with an Andalusian flavour.
Excellent wines or cava by the glass
Enjoy a wide choice of some of Spains best wines or Cava by the glass. In addition to the regular wines Loek also likes to try wines from a variety of Bodegas and often has a bottle or two of something special stashed away in a corner of the wine cooler. Ask him or take a look at the wine of the month on the blackboard.

Jamon
Try Jamon Serrano from Trevelez with crusty Spanish bread. The jamon
is dark red in colour and marbled with regular fine lines of fat. The
Ham is cured for at least 18 months and literally melts in your mouth.
Loek is now one of the finest ham cutters in Nerja. If you have tried
Serrano ham before and found it dry and chewy then sorry but you bought
the low quality type. The rule with ham is very simple, the more expensive,
the better.
Canapes
Paulinas freshly made canapes on lightly toasted bread include ham, cheese, smoked salmon and anchovies. They combime well with the excellent wines.
Surtido Iberico
Surtido Iberico, or selection of Spanish meats includes the different types of meat and sausage available in Spain including lomo (cured sirloin- try the bellota if you are feeling flush at the deli), chorizo (spicy sausage) and the salchicha (sausage) served with Jamon Serrano and crispy bread.
Cheeses
La Mancha in central Spain is more than just the largest wine making area in the world or battleground of the legendary Don Quixote. It is also the home of Manchego cheese. Goats, sheeps or cows or mixtures are delicious with a tomato and basil salad. A mixed spanish cheese platter also includes cheeses from Asturias and Galicia. International cheeses are also available.
Coffee and a big Brandy
Of course Loek and Paulina understand that you cannot eat with them every night. However on your way back home why not pop in for just a glass of wine or coffee with a large balloon of warmed Spanish brandy, the best is Carlos 1 or 1886.
